SWAT, May 18: A sabotage attempt was foiled, as bomb disposal squad defused a remote controlled device in Matta here on Sunday, sources said.

Officials said that they had information about three explosive devices, but only one was found and safely defused.

They said that the police and security forces cordoned off the area and closed the Matta road for all kind of traffic after the bomb disposal squad found a remote controlled device planted at the roadside.

ROAD BLOCKED: Residents of the area blocked the Matta-Bara Bandai road for more than one hour to protest against the increasing incidents of kidnapping on Sunday.

They set a deadline for the police to recover a man, Sultan Room by Sunday evening, who was abducted from the Bara Bandai area on Saturday night.

The protesters, who hailed from different villages, said that the administration had become totally helpless to control the growing incidents of kidnapping for ransom.

The official machinery had become a silent spectator and despite knowing that the heinous crime had spiraled, no action was taken to arrest the trend and bring the kidnappers to justice.

They said that unlike the administration they would take up arms against the criminals and take practical steps to eliminate the gangs from the area.
