20,000 wheat bags recovered

SUKKUR, May 17: A team comprising Rangers personnel and Food Department officials recovered some 20,000 wheat bags in raids at godowns of Pano Akil, near Sukkur on Friday.

Sindh Agriculture Minister had constituted a Monitoring Team whose In-charge Mir Shahnawaz Magsi, District Food Controller Sukkur Mohammad Bachal Abro and Rangers personnel raided godowns of Karim Bux Wagho, Haji Elahi Bux Shaikh, Birjoo Mal, Sono Mahar, Ali Murad Mahar and others in Pano Akil thus recovering around 20,000 hoarded wheat bags. No one was arrested.

DFC Sukkur Mohammad Bachal Abro when contacted said so far 7,000 bags of wheat had been recovered while loose commodity was being filled into bags which were likely to touch 10,000.

He said this was second raid in Pano Akil against hoarders as they failed to sell wheat to the government despite getting seven-day notice.
