QUETTA, May 10: Two suspected militants were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Lanjoseghari area on the Balochistan-Punjab border on Saturday.

Police sources said that security forces had launched an operation in the area after receiving information about the presence of suspected armed men there.

The deceased were identified as Aqil Qalandarani and his brother Naseer Qalandarani.

“Heavy weapons were used in the gunbattle,” the sources told Dawn.

They said that security forces arrested over 40 suspected militants during the search operation who were handed over to authorities concerned for interrogation.

“Arms and ammunition were also seized from suspected militants’ hideouts,” the sources said.
