QUETTA, May 7: A police constable and a passerby were killed and another policeman was injured in an attack here on Wednesday.

According to sources, two men on a motorbike opened fire on the policemen who were patrolling near Barma Hotel in the Sariab Road area.

Constable Mohammad Nasir was killed on the spot and the passerby, Karamullah, died in a hospital later. Head constable Noor Ahmed Bangulzai was critically injured.

A spokesman for the banned Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack. Police have taken some suspects into custody for interrogation.
