KARACHI, May 6: Three people were killed on Tuesday in acts of violence in parts of the city, witnesses and police said.

A 45-year-old man was shot dead by suspected gangsters near Qadir Bux Hotel on Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road.

Baghdadi police said Mohammed Aslam, a watchman at the Lyari General Hospital, was shot dead at around 4:30pm.

They said a murder case was registered against gang leader Ghaffar Zikri and his three associates – Saeed Kajal, Akhtar alias Akku and Bashir, son of Nazir – on the complaint of the victim’s brother Mohammed Ashraf.

Donkey-carter shot dead

A 25-year-old donkey-cart rider was shot dead near Mehboob Masjid on Umer Lane in the mafia-infested Lyari.

Chakiwara police said Talib Hussain, son of Imam Bux, was shot dead allegedly by Jibraeel, his brother Arif, and their father, Zahoor.

They said the victim and suspect Arif had an altercation earlier in the morning at the City Courts, where they had gone for hearing of their respective cases.

The police said Arif reported the matter to his brother and father and they caught the victim near his house.

They said the two brothers and their father first beat up the victim and Jibraeel shot him dead during a scuffle.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital, where sources said the victim was brought dead to the hospital.

They said the victim was shot a single bullet to his head from a point-blank range that pierced his skull.

The police registered a murder case against the three suspects on the complaint of the victim’s mother, Noor Bibi.

Youth killed

A 22-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by an ex-suitor of his fiancée in Gulshan-i-Ghazi, Saeedabad.

Moachkoh police said they arrested the suspect immediately after the incident.

They said the victim, Sona, son of Sikandar, was a resident of Chakiwara and had come to Gulshan-i-Ghazi to visit his fiancée’s home. Police said suspect Imran Ahmed, 23, was her ex-suitor.

They said the suspect killed the victim out of jealousy as the girl’s parents had rejected his marriage proposal.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital, but the victim’s relatives took it away without autopsy. The police said efforts were being made to bring the body back to the hospital for a postmortem.
