SRINAGAR, April 26: Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Party Hurriyat Conference, said on Friday there were nearly 30 proposals to resolve the Kashmir issue.

The All Party Hurriyat Conference leader also said the coalition should talk to New Delhi if India issued an invitation for talks.

“As per my knowledge there are nearly 30 proposals, which can turn out to be possible solutions to resolve the issue of Kashmir,” said Farooq.

“There is a dire need to discuss these proposals,” he said before the start of the Friday congregation at the main mosque in Srinagar.

He did not give details of the proposals, but said Kashmiri leaders would “ponder over” them.

“Wherever we get the opportunity we will discuss these proposals,” he said.

He said world leaders were actively working towards resolving the Kashmir issue through “peaceful means”.

“World leaders want to listen to the people of Kashmir and find out what the possible solution can be to resolve this issue.”

Farooq said the time would come soon when India would be compelled to talk to the Kashmiri leadership.

“If India says ‘come tell us what do you want?’ we should not shy away from talking,” he said.

“When we get that opportunity we will talk. We will talk and talk with authority.

“There is no military solution to the issues, nor through use of force.” —AFP
