TANK, April 19: Supporters of militant commander Baitullah Mehsud publicly executed on Saturday three people, including an Afghan national, in the Makin bazaar of South Waziristan tribal region, witnesses said.

They said the three men had been kidnapped from a restaurant in the bazaar three days ago for allegedly killing Intizar Khan, Mehsud’s comrade.

They had been produced before the local Taliban Shoora, which sealed their fate.

Locals said that militants brought the three to the main bazaar and sprayed them with bullets in front of a crowd.

Two of them were identified as Farooq Wazir and Janan Mehsud, while the name of the Afghan national could not be known.

Local authorities told journalists that a tribal Lashkar had killed three people in connection with the assassination of their fellow tribesman.

Our Correspondent from Ghalanai adds: A tribal elder was gunned down in Inbar tehsil of the Mohmand tribal region on Saturday.

However, the local Taliban neither denied nor confirmed the report.

Sources said that Malik Syed Mir Utmankhel had been killed in an exchange of fire between his supporters and militants in the Adam Kor area, some 35km east of Ghalanai.
