NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, April 19: A heavy contingent of Rangers and police raided village Saeed Khushik near Khan Wahan on Saturday to recover a kidnapped Rangers official.

Major Mohammad Amin of Indus Rangers went missing from Sukkur while on a walk on Thursday.

Seven vehicles of Indus Rangers from Sukkur and nine vehicles of district police raided the village and arrested a suspect, Israr Khushik. However, they failed to recover Maj Amin.

The relatives of Israr took out a rally and staged a demonstration in Khan Wahan town against his arrest. The shopkeepers of the town also observed a shutter down strike in protest.

A relative of Israr, Saeed Khan, told reporters that Israr was not involved in any criminal activity and no case had been registered against him.

When contacted, incharge DPO Akbar Wagan said that he had no knowledge about the raid.

KIDNAP BID FOILED: A teenaged kidnapper was nabbed by people in village Bachal Mahar near Naushahro Feroze while another who managed to escape was later arrested by police on Saturday.

Hakim Shaikh, 18, and Najib, 20, residents of the village near Bahria College in Naushahro Feroze kidnapped a child, Ehsan Ali, 9, from a banana orchard near the village.

A villager who saw them kidnapping the child called in other villagers and nabbed Hakim Shaikh while Najib managed to escape.

The villagers took the accused to Naushahro Feroze police station. The police after interrogation arrested the other kidnapper, Najib Shaikh. Police official Abdul Haq Panhwar informed the father of Ehsan. He was present at police station to lodge an FIR.

In the meantime, SHO Lal Bux Dahar rapped the police official for leaking the information to press and put down phone call.

This correspondent contacted SPO Hubdar Ali Shah, as the DPO was on a leave, the SPO apologised on the behaviour of the SHO and informed that the FIR was not lodged till the filing of this report.
