SUKKUR, April 16: A Major Aamir of Shahbaz Rangers went missing when he was on his routine morning walk on the airport road after Fajr prayers early on Wednesday.

Sukkur DIG Bashir Memon and DPO Arab Mahar confirmed the military official had gone missing and said that the police were making serious efforts to find his whereabouts.

Sources close to the matter said that the major had been kidnapped by unidentified people. He was on a ten-day leave and had returned just three day ago from his hometown Sargodha. It had been his routine for years to go on morning walks and he was in jogging suits the day he was kidnapped, they said.

The recent incident followed the kidnapping of five youths of Memon community near Baberloi bypass two weeks ago who remain untraced till this day, and added to unrest and harassment among people of the area.
