JACOBABAD, April 1: Former Sindh minister Dr Sohrab Sarki and 28 other people have been booked on the charge of sabotaging polling process at a local constituency during Feb 18 elections by firing rockets on a polling station and thrashing PPP activists.

One Arsala Khoso lodged an FIR with the Garhi Hassan police station of Thul on Tuesday against Dr Sarki, a Pakistan Muslim League candidate for PS-15 Thul, Hanif Sarki, Wahid Sarki and 26 others on the charge of sabotaging polling process at Garhi Hassan polling station.

When contacted, Dr Sarki refuted the allegations and said that the ‘politically motivated’ case against him and members of his community was aimed at victimising him. However, he said that he was not afraid of such tactics.

Dr Sarki was declared successful in the PA seat election but Mir Hasan Khoso, the rival candidate of the Pakistan People’s Party, has challenged the results and his appeal is pending in an election tribunal.

KILLED: Two tribesmen were killed in a clash in the Garhi Khairo area on Tuesday.

Two groups of Jakhrani tribesmen exchanged fire in Mataro Khan village as a result Ali Ahmed, 35, and Imamuddin, 22, were killed.

The exchange of fire lasted for six hours, which created harassment in the area.

The motive behind the clash is said to be a dispute caused by an incident of honour killing which has been lingering on for six months. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
