Villagers beat policemen

OKARA, March 31: Villagers beat up a police party when it raided Chak 9/G-D in Chuchak police precincts to arrest some suspects.

Sub-inspector Muhammad Shafi along with policemen Akram, Falak Sher and Khadim Husain raided the village to arrest Bashir, Mushtaq, Ismail and Zafar Iqbal, but the accused and some of their relatives, including Shahid, Abdul Khaliq, Khadim, Sarfraz, Sultan and three women, Manzooran, Bashiran and Parveen, attacked the policemen and injured them.

They also smashed the windscreen and windowpanes of the police mobile. The Chuchak police registered case No 147/2008 and started investigation.

STRIKE: Members of the District Bar Association observed a complete strike to protest the ransacking of deposed Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday’s residence in the Judges Enclave in Islamabad on Saturday.

DBA President Sagheer and others urged the government to take action against the culprits.

MURDER: A youth was shot dead in his house in Nasim Fatima Colony here on Monday.

The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

Abdul Basit and his wife, Sadaf, reached the house of Ahmad Din. After some time, Ahmad Din’s son Asif, 20, also reached. When Asif was entering his house, Basit shot at him, killing him on the spot. Basit and his wife fled after the incident. The A-Division police sent the body for an autopsy and started investigation.
