KARACHI, March 31: Justice Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan of the High Court of Sindh on Monday ordered reduction of the surety amount of an alleged robber, who failed to arrange the sum after being granted bail on Sept 3, 2007.

According to the prosecution, Ajmal Nazeer, manager of a bank branch located on Rashid Minhas Road, had lodged an FIR on April 29, 2004 that a man holding a TT pistol in his hand entered the branch and demanded keys of lockers. In the meantime, three other persons entered the bank and held the staff at gunpoint. They collected Rs392,694 from the bank and fled.

Shah Faisal police arrested Ali Nawaz on May 24, 2005 and booked him under Section 395/398/411 of the PPC in the case.

The accused applied for bail but was denied by the trial court after which he moved the SHC, which granted him bail in a sum of Rs200,000 on Sept 3, 2007. As he failed to arrange the sum, the court reduced the amount to Rs100,000.—APP
