SHIKARPUR, March 31: The driver of a coach died and 10 passengers received injuries when bandits opened fire on the Bahawalpur–bound coach which overturned on Shikarpur-Kandhkot section of the Indus Highway near Rahimabad Laro on Monday. The coach was coming from Quetta.

The bandits attacked the coach when its driver refused to stop. As a result of the firing, driver Sultan Ahmed, resident of Noshki, lost his life. The vehicle overturned causing injuries to 10 passengers, identified as Shah Mohammad, Ghulam Qadir, Ms Zarina, Ms Rozina, Deedar Sehto, Munawwar Rajput, Jameel Ahmed and three others.

Four of the injured Ghulam Qadir, Munawar, Deedar Sehto and Jameel Ahmed were admitted to Civil Hospital Shikarpur and one of them was taken away by relatives to Rahim Yar Khan. Five other injured were discharged from the hospital after medical assistance. Khanpur police have registered a case.

Meanwhile, two shepherds were injured in the jurisdiction of Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station when Mahar tribesmen opened fire on them.

According to reports, Mahar tribes men of Habibkot village attacked and injured Inayatullah and Bhalo Gul Jatoi who were grazing their cattle in the field. The attackers also took away 40 cattle of the Jatois from the field on gun point. No FIR was registered till the filling of this report.

KILLED: On Sunday, a man died and three others injured in an armed clash between Kakepoto and Brohi tribesmen in the jurisdiction of Sultankot and Karan police stations.

The clash took place between the rival tribesmen when

Brohis were working in their field. The dead was identified as Mumtaz Brohi while the injured included Juma Khan Brohi, Ameer Bux Brohi and Mir Ahmed Kakepoto of Daresh Kakepoto village.

The motive behind the clash is said to be ongoing dispute which emerged over theft of boring pipes.
