SIALKOT, March 25: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of fine quality heroin in a raid on a soccer ball manufacture factory in Uggoki, a few kilometers from here.

According to an ANF official, the force raided the factory owned by Chaudhry Iqbal Ghumman on a tip-off and seized heroin hidden in footballs, which were ready to be exported.

ANF officials later told reporters the seized heroin was worth millions of rupees. They said three people, including the factory owner, had been arrested and a case had been registered against them. The factory was also sealed.

Probe ordered: A Pasrur additional district and sessions judge (AD&SJ) has directed a civil judge to investigate alleged highhandedness of Qila Kalarwala police against a cleric and his family in Tataarpur village near Sabzpeer locality.

Hafiz Muhamamd Ashfaq, the prayer leader of Gulzar-i-Medina mosque, petitioned before AD&SJ Rana Abdul Hafeez and alleged that a police team led by the Qila Kalarwala station house officer (SHO) stormed his house allegedly in search of some proclaimed offenders (POs) a few days ago and manhandled him and some women members of his family, including Bashiran Bibi, Muhammad Bibi and Shabana Bibi.

The petitioner said the police also desecrated Islamic tenets by uprooting hair from beard he was wearing on his face.

He said the police also kidnapped five villagers, Abdul Qayyum, Safdar, Amjad, Zafar and Asghar, during this operation and later implicated them in a fake case of harbouring the POs. He asked the court to order registration of a case against the SHO and other policemen.

Taking serious notice, AD&SJ Hafeez directed Civil Judge Muneer Husain Gill to probe into the matter and report back within seven days.
