SAHIWAL, March 19: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has instituted a case against Chaudhry Muhammad Younis, CIA inspector (dacoit cell), and Yousafwala police station sub-inspector Altaf Cheema.

Muhammad Younis allegedly took Rs33,000 as bribe from Kaneeza Bibi, a resident of 174/9-L, Chichawatni, for settling a dispute. Later when the matter was not solved, she demanded her money back but the official threatened her with dire consequences.

SI Altaf Cheema took Rs88,000 from Shamim Akhter with the promise to provide the latter with a car from the Tehsil Cars Auction. A tehsil official, Riaz, is also allegedly involved in the deal.

However, no car was given to the woman and as the inspector refused to fulfill his commitment, she filed an application with the ACE.

The ACE registered a case against the officials and said it was awaiting warrants for their arrest. — Shafiq Butt
