Four injured in firing

KHAIRPUR, March 19: Four people were injured in an exchange of fire between two groups here on Wednesday.

The trouble started when a procession taken out by a religious group reached the Katchery Road, an area inhabited mainly by people belonging to the rival group.

The injured Altaf Ahmed Kandhro, Abdul Fatah Katohar and Latif Dino Ansari and Shabab Hyder were taken to the Khairpur Civil Hospital and one of them was later referred to Sukkur. Police used tear gas to bring the situation under control.

Security for Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions were further tightened in the town after the incident.

DIG Sukkur reached Khairpur and held a meeting with the DPO and other police officers to review security arrangements.

CLASH: Two persons were killed and two others injured in a clash between rival groups in Faiz Ganj area, here on Wednesday.

The bodies were handed over to relatives after post-mortem at Faiz Ganj Taluka Hospital.
