KHAR, March 17: The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan foiled a kidnapping bid, recovered a local trader and destroyed the vehicle of kidnappers at Kausar area of Bajaur Agency on Monday.

Some unidentified armed persons whisked away Haji Toor Jan, a prominent trader of Tehsil Mamond, and fled towards undisclosed location.

The local Taliban after getting information regarding the kidnapping chased the kidnappers and intercepted them at Kausar area of tehsil Khar.

After exchange of fire the kidnappers fled leaving the kidnapped trader and the vehicle.

Taliban fired rockets at the vehicle, fearing explosive or other lethal arms may be concealed in the car.

Terhrik-i-Taliban spokesperson told journalists that they had initiated a drive against the growing cases of kidnapping particularly of the local traders for the last few weeks.

He said the Tehrik-i-Taliban had taken strong notice of it, adding the criminals and outlaws found involved in anti-social activities and crimes would be dealt with iron hand.

He said the local Taliban Shura had decided to kill those on the spot who were found guilty of kidnapping for ransom in Bajaur Agency. He added that Taliban were collecting information about the kidnapped persons and action would be taken against the kidnappers according to Shariah Law.
