PARACHINAR, Feb 26: Pakistan People’s Party-backed candidate for NA-37 (Upper Kurram tribal region) Dr Syed Riaz Hussain and three others were wounded in a bomb blast near Sadda town on Tuesday morning.

Dr Riaz and his supporters were going to Alizai in Lower Kurram region, in connection with his election campaign when his vehicle hit an explosive device in Khar village near Sadda town and overturned.

Dr Riaz and his three supporters, Haji Ghadir Hussain, Mazahir Hussain and Zahir Hussain, were injured. They were taken to the agency headquarters hospital in Parachinar where doctors said their condition was stable.

This was the second attempt on the life of Dr Riaz. Earlier, at least 55 people were killed and over 100 wounded when a bomb exploded in Dr Riaz’s election office on Feb 16, but he had survived the attack.
