GUJRAT, Feb 15: The Gujrat police registered yet another case against Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar and Chaudhry Nasir Samman, the Pakistan People’s Party candidates for NA-105 and PP-111 and PP-110, respectively, along with other party workers on Thursday.

The Rehmania police registered a case against Mukhtar, Samman, Noor Elahi and others for resorting to aerial firing during a public meeting in Qadir Colony, a locality near the Gujrat airstrip.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Usman, the in-charge of Model Town police check post, reported the incident to the police on which a case under Sections 337-H 2 and 148/149 of Pakistan Penal Code was registered against the PPP candidates and activists.

PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain had said on Wednesday that his plane could not take off due to PPP workers’ aerial firing near the airfield.

According to a PML-Q spokesman, the pilot of the aircraft had refused to take off amid aerial firing around the airport, as according to his estimation the airspace above the area had become dangerous zone to take a flight.

Ch Ahmed Mukhtar has denied the incident of firing near the airfield and said that it was only firework being done by enthusiastic party workers for his reception.—Correspondent
