Legharis bury the hatchet

Published February 9, 2008

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Feb 8: District Nazim Maqsood Leghari has withdrawn the candidatures of his sons – Husain Leghari and Muhammad Khan Leghari — in favour of Farooq Leghari and Awais Leghari from NA-172, NA-173 and PP-243.

Farooq Leghari and Awais Leghari are contesting from NA-172and NA-173. Prior to the patch-up, both were facing a tough contest from Maqsood’s sons. Earlier, Mansoor Leghari, the brother of the district nazim, had filed his nomination papers from NA-172 but the court turned down his candidature.

After the withdrawal of candidatures of Maqsood’s sons, now Shabir Leghari of the Pakistan People’s Party and Hafiz Abdul Karim of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz are in the field against PML-Q’s Farooq Leghari.

Mohammed Khan Leghari, however, will contest election for PP-245 where Mohsin Leghari of the Farooq Leghari group is also in the filed. But the patch-up does not affect this constituency and both candidates will face each other.
