PESHAWAR, Jan 3: Foggy weather disrupted air traffic as several flights coming to Peshawar from Karachi and Saudi Arabia had to be diverted to Lahore and Islamabad on Thursday, aviation officials said.

Fog enveloped the provincial capital and its adjoining areas in the morning and the situation deteriorated in the afternoon.

Local Met office said that cloudy weather and fog had reduced visibility to just 400 meters at the runway of the Peshawar International Airport at noon, forcing authorities to reschedule flights coming to Peshawar.

The inclement weather also disturbed the flight operations of the Pakistan Air Force.

An official of the Civil Aviation Authority said that a flight of the Saudi Airlines coming to Peshawar from Jeddah had to be diverted to Lahore at about 2pm. Similarly, a domestic flight of PIA from Karachi was diverted to Islamabad.

Domestic flight of Air Blue coming from Karachi was diverted to Islamabad and another flight of the same company was cancelled.

Cold weather gripped the provincial capital and its surrounding areas on Thursday.
