PESHAWAR: CNG price hike condemned

Published January 2, 2008

PESHAWAR, Jan 1: CNG consumers on Monday condemned a sharp increase in the price of CNG and termed it unjustified of the move of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

CNG Dealers Association President MR Ghyias told Dawn that the decision of 10 per cent increase in prices of the CNG had been notified to dealers concerned.

He said the new increase had made the price of CNG equivalent to petrol and it was not acceptable to consumers.

Mr Ghyias said that most of the people here belonged to middle or lower-middle class and they were unable to bear the raise.

He said the government decision would badly affect the business of CNG dealers in the province.

In reply to a question about the price difference in the NWFP, he said it was due to the difference in the cost in different areas.
