LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 30: Returning officers on Friday accepted nomination papers of several candidates contesting for one National Assembly and three provincial assembly seats of Lakki Marwat district.

Former district nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan, former federal minister Anwar Saifullah Khan, caretaker provincial Minister for Auqaf, Hajj, Religious, Minorities Affairs Dr Mohammad Khalid Raza Zakori and other candidates were also present during the scrutiny of nomination papers.

The nomination papers of Humayun Saifullah Khan for NA-27, his younger brother Anwar Saifullah Khan for PF-75 (Lakki Marwat-II) and Mr Zakori for both NA-27 and PF-75 were accepted.

However, objections were raised to the nomination papers of former MPA Malik Imran Khan Marwat and Tehsil Nazim Naurang Anwar Hayat Khan.

Former town nazim Serai Naurang and candidate for PF-74 (Lakki Marwat-I) Malik Samiullah Khan objected to the papers of the tehsil nazim. They alleged that Mr Hayat had not given complete details of his assets.

Returning Officer Rehmatullah Mehsud heard the arguments of lawyers from both sides and fixed Dec 3 for further hearing.

A voter from PF-75, Inamullah Khan, raised objections to the papers of Imran Khan Marwat. However, the returning officer rejected his objections.

The returning officer also rejected the nomination papers of a school teacher, Faizullah Kahan, for NA-27 on the grounds that the candidate was a government servant.

Political circles say that a tough fight in the PF-75 constituency is expected between caretaker minister Khalid Raza Zakori, former federal minister Anwar Saifullah Khan and former MPA Malik Imran Khan Marwat.
