HYDERABAD, Oct 25: Writers, artists, intellectuals and political leaders paid homage to renowned artiste, playwright, short story writer and political activist Jiji Zarina Baloch on her second death anniversary, which was observed in a number of towns across the province on Thursday.

In Hyderabad, noted intellectual and Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo presided over the anniversary function at Awami House in Qasimabad.

Mr Palijo said Jiji Zarina had led the struggle for the emancipation of Sindh during One Unit days. Jiji infused new soul in Sindhis and reawakened them with her revolutionary songs, he said.

Apa Qamar Wahid said that Rasool Bux Palijo had played a pivotal role in making Zarina Baloch “Jiji” of entire Sindh.

Jiji’s death anniversary was also observed in Tando Bago, Tando Jan Mohammad, Digri, Mirpurkhas, Shahdadpur, Shahpur Chakar and many other towns.—Bureau
