FAISALABAD, Oct 22: Punjab Wildlife Research Institute (PWRI) has launched a survey for the breeding urial in Salt Range, said a spokesman of the PWRI in Gattwala. Best arrangements have been made at various wildlife parks and breeding centres for the captive breeding of various mammals and birds.

During the current breeding season, four mammals gave birth to 16 fawns and babies while 16 exotic bird varieties hatched 244 chicks. Mammals include hog deer, black buck, mouflon sheep and monkey while breading birds include common peafowl, white peafowl, pied peafowl, emerald peafowl, black shouldered peafowl, RN pheasant, silver pheasant, red golden pheasant, Reeve’s fowl, common geese and domestic pigeon.

EXECUTION: Five condemned prisoners of Jaranwala will be hanged in the district prison here on Nov 7.

Abdul Ghafoor, son of Pir Ali, his brother Mamoora, Muhammad Husain, son of Ghulam Sarwar, brother Fazl Hussain and Saleem, son of Mirza, of 570-GB were sentenced to death by Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Iftikhar Ali Malik on June 23, 1996. They were involved in a triple murder case of Lundianwala police station.

Superior courts upheld the decision of lower court while the president also turned down their mercy petitions. Their execution was earlier deferred for six times. The district and sessions court judge has issued their black warrants for the seventh time and now they would be executed here on Nov 7. — APP
