SIALKOT, March 16: A villager was martyred in Indian shelling on bordering Bhoorey Chak of the Sialkot working boundary’s Shakargarh sector on Friday night.

Official sources said Muneer Ahmad (35) was asleep in the courtyard of his house when some bullets hit him, killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, Indian troops on Saturday continued firing on border villages in Chhumb Joriyaan, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Harpal, Jammu, Akhnoor and Shakargarh—Narowal sectors of the working boundary.

The sources claimed that four Indian troops sustained serious injuries while a big ammunition vehicle and two defensive pillars were destroyed when Chenab Rangers retaliated near Akhnoor and Jammu sectors.

MUZAFFARABAD: A man was injured in Indian firing from across the Line of Control in southern Poonch district of Azad Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

Mohammad Younus, son of Sakhi Mohammad, received wounds in Mandhol village in Hajira sector, police said, adding he was admitted to a local hospital.

However, the officials say that the intensity of the cross-border shelling has reduced to a great extent over the recent days.
