QUETTA, Sept 6: Lawyers on Thursday boycotted court proceedings all over Balochistan on the call of the Supreme Court Bar Association and demanded that President Pervez Musharraf should restore civilian rule.

Lawyers’ spokesman claimed that legal representatives in Pishin, Ziarat, Loralai, Zhob, Nushki, Mastung, Kalat, Hub, Panjgur, Kech, Sibi, and Dera Murad Jamali also boycotted courts.

Protestors gathered outside the press club and raised slogans against dictatorship and in favour of people’s rule. They were led by Vice-Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council Ali Ahmed Kurd.

Mr Kurd announced the launching of the second phase of lawyers’ struggle in line with a decision of the PBC, SCBA and provincial bar associations and said the boycott of courts marked its beginning.—Correspondent
