Honour for Jahangir Khan

KARACHI, Aug 11: The Board of Governors of London Metropolitan University has decided to confer the honorary degree of Doctorate of Philosophy on squash legend Jahangir Khan which would be awarded to him at the Barbican Centre on Dec 14.

“The award is in recognition of your outstanding contribution to sport and the inspiration this has provided to the other sportsmen and sportswomen, particularly in Pakistan,” says Brian Roper, vice chancellor of the university in his letter to the celebrity.

“I consider this an as an honour for myself and for the whole nation,” said Jahangir, who heads the World Squash Federation, while accepting the invitation.

Jahangir, 43, had won the prestigious British Open 10 times and World Open six times.
