DADU: Girl kidnapped, shot dead

DADU, April 2: A student of the government girls’ college was kidnapped and shot dead on Saturday. Safia Qureshi, a second year student was kidnapped and shot dead near her house. The accused then handed over the body to officials of casualty ward of the Civil Hospital Dadu.

In the early hours of Sunday, police arrived and the body was handed over to the mother of deceased after autopsy.

Rashida Begum, mother of the deceased, alleged that Zubair Jamali, brother of the PPP MNA Rafique Jamali had kidnapped her daughter and attempted to rape her and on her resistance she was killed. She said that since last many months, Zubair Jamali was harassing her daughter on phone.

The SHO Dadu, Mohammad Ayoub Brohi said that after the murder of Safia Qureshi, three persons handed over the body to hospital officials.

He said two persons Riaz Qambrani and Waseem Jamali have been detained for interrogation.

The SHO further said the main accused was identified as Zubair Jamali. Dadu town police, on the complaint of Rashida Begum, have registered a murder FIR against Zubair Jamali and are investigating.

The deceased's sister, Roma said the accused are influential people and police are trying to protect them. She has appealed to Sindh Chief Minister to take notice and ensure justice.

Meanwhile, Rafique Ahmed Jamali MNA denied that his brother was involved in the murder of Safia and said the police had registered a fake FIR naming his brother.

He said Safia had committed suicide and added that at the time of suicide, his brother was with Abdullah Jamali, brother-in-law of the deceased Safia.

He said that due to the pressure from a high police officer, deceased's mother has lodged an FIR against his brother. The PPP MNA further said that all concerned people knew that Safia had committed suicide and motive behind nominating his brother in the FIR was to damage his political and family background.
