Blast damages rail track

Published March 8, 2007

QUETTA, March 7: A portion of the railway track near the Spezand railway station was blown up on Wednesday.

A railway official said that a two-foot portion of the track, some 30kms from the provincial capital, was destroyed in the blast at about 2015 hours, when a passenger train from Peshawar was on the way to Quetta.

The explosion took place soon after the train had crossed that portion of the track. The railway official said that the repair work was under way and would be completed in a few hours.
