Olympiad goes on

LAHORE, March 2: The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Friday organised different competitions, including debates, plays, quiz, computer gaming, photography and music videos, as part of its `LUMS Olympiad 2007’.

The four-day Olympiad that began on Thursday is being jointly organised by the Debates and Recitation Society (DRUMS and LUMS Media Arts Society (LMA) in collaboration with Dramaline, Music Society, LUMS Computer Gaming Society and Arts Society.

According to the Olympiad organisers, over 500 students from different schools, colleges and universities from all over the country are participating in the Olympiad.

In the photography category, a large number of photographs taken by students were put on display for the competition. The pictures depicted social evils prevailing in society.

Students from LACAS; Aitchison College; IMS, Peshawar; Greenwich University, Karachi; Lahore Grammar School; Froebel’s International School, Islamabad; Beaconhouse, Margalla, Islamabad; FAST National University, Textile Institute of Pakistan; SISA; NUST E&ME; Shifa College of Medicine; KIMS; NUML; The City School, Islamabad; FAST-NU, Karachi; SICAS and Beaconhouse, Garden Town, Lahore; displayed their photographs in the competition.

In the drama category, a number of short plays were staged by students of LACAS; SICAS; Aitchison College; Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad; Beaconhouse, Defence Lahore; and Lahore Grammar School.

The final results of all competitions will be announced on the last day of LUMS Olympiad on Sunday (tomorrow).
