ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: Election tribunal on Friday adjourned a degree case against federal labour minister until March 1, 2007. The petition was filed by Chairman Communist Party of Pakistan Engineer Jamil Ahmad Malik in the Supreme Court which referred it to the election tribunal headed by Justice Syed Zahid Hussain.

Engineer Malik pleading his case said that the degree of the incumbent federal minister for labour, manpower and overseas Pakistanis is fake and urged the court to cancel his membership of the parliament.

Mr Malik informed the tribunal that the diploma which Ghulam Sarwar Khan had got from Government College Faisalabad was fake because it had been issued in the name of Ghulam Sarwar Khan son of Abdul Hameed whereas the father name of the federal minister is Muhammad Hayat.

Sheikh Zamir Hussain Advocate appeared on behalf of the federal labour minister. He prayed to the tribunal to give him some time so that he could study the petition file. On this the learned judge deferred the case till March 1, 2007.

Justice Syed Zahid Hussain also observed that the case would be decided in eight-week time.
