PESHAWAR, Jan 15: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) has announced that it will observe the year 2007 in remembrance of the War of Independence of 1857 to pay tribute to the heroes of the subcontinent. The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s executive council held here on Monday, provincial JUI-F president Senator Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan told reporters.

Mr Khan said seminars and functions would be held at district, tehsil and union council level in the province to commemorate the bravery of the independence war heroes. A conference will be organised on April 1, where leaders of various political parties of the country and also from India will be invited.

He said a meeting of the party’s general council would be held on March 10 and 11 here to review arrangements for the conference.
