QUETTA, Dec 31: PPP leader and Chief of Sarawan Nawab Aslam Raisani has said that a meeting of the Baloch National and Tribal Jirga will be held after Eidul Azha to finalise the plan to hold protest against the police misbehaviour with former Balochistan chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

He said that if the government was thinking of resolving the Baloch issue through the use of force then the rulers were mistaken.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Nawab Raisani said the rulers wanted to suppress the Baloch in order to exploit the resources of Balochistan.

Condemning the inhuman attitude of police with Sardar Mengal in custody, he said the Baloch would not tolerate humiliating attitude with him as he was an important member of the supreme council of the Baloch National and Tribal Jirga.

The chief of Sarawan said the political problem could not be settled through the use of guns and cited the martyrdom of Nawab Akbar Bugti who sacrificed his life, but never bowed down before the oppressors.

In another statement, the Balochistan National Party

(Mengal) said the party would not give up the struggle despite the government excesses against the Baloch leader.

The BNP-M said extra-judicial arrests of Baloch nationalist activists could not force the party leadership to abandon the struggle against the anti-Baloch rulers.

The statement said the arrests of more than 1,500 party activists, including Sardar Mengal, since November 25, had not weakened the party strength.

It said the party would continue the struggle despite unconstitutional and non-political behaviour of the government that had killed hundreds of the Baloch in the military operation and arrested thousands of activists.

The statement urged the Baloch and party members to continue the struggle till victory against the anti-people rulers.

The BNP appealed to the international human rights organisations and patriotic political groups to raise voice against the military oppression in Balochistan.
