KANDAHAR, Nov 20:Two policemen were killed and another was missing after Taliban militants ambushed a patrol in southern Afghanistan, police said on Monday. The patrol came under Taliban fire in Girishk district on Sunday night, sparking an exchange of fire. Taliban fled the area soon after the attack, police official Amanullah Khan said.

Two police were killed and a third one is still missing after the Taliban ambushed a police patrol, he said.

Meanwhile, police arrested on Monday three abductors who had kidnapped a 28-year-old man in October in Kandahar and were demanding $300,000 for his release, provincial police chief Asmatullah Amiri said.

“We arrested three of the five abductors today and won the release of Mohammad Ishaq who reunited with his family sound and safe,” said Mr Amiri.—AFP
