ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Saturday asked the government to order for a judicial inquiry into the ‘tragic killing’ of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.

PBC vice-chairman Ali Ahmed Kurd told reporters here on the Supreme Court premises that the situation in Balochistan was turning from bad to worse every passing day and hatred against the establishment was also increasing.

He referred to a resolution adopted by the PBC in one of its meeting condemning the killing of Akbar Bugti.

The resolution said the PBC condemned the “cold blooded murder” of one of our national leaders - Nawab Akbar Bugti - at the hands of the military rulers. It also criticised the callousness of the present rulers in refusing to hand over his body to the bereaved family for burial and held that his death was target killing.

The council also expressed deep concern over the political consequences of the military action in Balochistan and NWFP and held that the military action to resolve political differences would have dire consequences for the integrity of the country.

It also condoled the death of Akbar Bugti and prayed to Almighty Allah that his soul may rest in eternal peace.

The resolution called for immediate halt to military action in Balochistan and NWFP, and punishment to those who were responsible for the killing of Akbar Bugti.
