KHAIRPUR, Aug 27: Renowned Sufi singer Sohrab Fakir was admitted to a private hospital on Sunday morning after suffering chest pain and for diabetic complications.

His relatives told reporters that they had not received his regular stipend from the culture department for nine months.

They said that Sohrab Fakir had served the country and represented it at the international level but the government had ignored him during his illness.

They said that poverty had made it difficult to earn bread for his children and in such a situation they could not afford treatment of the singer.

ROZI DHANI: The Rashid Rozi Dhani chair of the Shah Abdul Latif University on Saturday organised a programme to mark the 188th death anniversary of Pir Mohammad Rashid Rozi Dhani, the founder of Dargah Rashdia Pir Jo Goth.

SALU vice-chancellor Dr A.R. Malik presided over the gathering.

Khairpur District Nazim Niaz Hussain Shah, Mufti Abdul Rahim Sikandari and other scholars read papers on the occasion.

Dr A.R. Malik gave ‘Pir Saeen Rozi Dhani Excellency Award’ to Mufti Abdul Rahim.

Dr Malik said that aim behind establishment of the Rozi Dhani chair and holding the seminar was to create awareness about religious and other services performed by Pir Mohammad Rashid and other Sajjada Nasheens of Dargah Sharif.

Speakers urged that services and teachings of Pir Mohammad Rashid Rozi Dhani and his other family members should be made part of curriculum.

Begum Rana Shah, Prof (Dr) Khair Mohammad Larik, Prof Altaf Aseem, Allama Hizbullah Soomro and Shafqat Shah spoke on the occasion.
