HYDERABAD, Aug 22: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday called upon President Gen Pervez Musharraf to order registration of a blasphemy case against Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Qazi Hussain Ahmed and other MMA legislators for their alleged involvement in tearing up of copies of Hudood Ordinance (amendment) bill containing sacred names of Allah and Holy Prophet (pbuh) and Quranic verses.

Activists of the party held demonstrations in several districts in protest against MMA legislators’ attitude in the National Assembly.

In Hyderabad, MQM activists staged a protest march from the Hyder chowk to the press club.

Zonal in-charge Siraj Rajput appealed to the chief justice of the Supreme Court to take action against those who had committed blasphemy by tearing up copies of the Hudood Ordinance (amendment) bill in the National Assembly and trampling over them.

Directly addressing a TV channel, Mr Rajput said that it should telecast the incident which had taken place in parliament in the same manner as it was showing video films about rain.

TANDO ALLAHYAR: MQM activists, led by sector in-charge Sajid Wahab Khanzada and UC nazims Dr Khalid Latif, Syed Hussain Shah and Haq Nawaz Qaimkhani, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club.

They demanded that a blasphemy case should be registered against MMA leaders.

NAWABSHAH: MQM activists took out a procession from the Market road to the press club.

They carried party flags and raised slogans against MMA leaders.

Zonal in-charge Sheeraz Masood and Mureed Brohi condemned the attitude of MMA leaders for putting sacred names under feet.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: MQM activists took out a procession from Dastagir colony Moro to the press club against MMA leaders.

They said that MMA’s act of tearing up copies of the amended Hudood Ordinance bill was against law and Islam.

MQM activists also took out a rally in Naushahro Feroze.

MIRPURKHAS: MQM activists and elected representatives, led by zonal in-charge Saleem Razzaq, took out a procession from the MQM office.

They marched through the main thoroughfares.

They demanded that the government should register a blasphemy case against MMA legislators and award them exemplary punishment.

SHIKARPUR: MQM activists took out a procession against attitude of MMA members adopted in the National Assembly.

Zonal in-charge Monomal, Shamim Arain, Rafique Suhindro, Tariq Ahmed and Shahnawaz condemned tearing of the draft of Hudood Ordinance amendment bill by MMA members in the National Assembly.

LARKANA: Activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement protesting against the MMA for tearing copies of Hudood Ordinance bill took out processions in Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts.

Larkana zonal in-charge Aftab Soomro and Qambar-Shahdadkot zonal in-charge Khalique Chandio led the protesters.

SUKKUR: MQM activists staged a demonstration in front of the press club in protest against tearing of copies of the Hudood Ordinance bill by MMA legislators.

Jamal Barmani and Imtiaz Qureshi led the protesters.
