KARACHI, Aug 12: The Bonsai Exhibition-2006, organised by the Pakistan Bonsai Society in collaboration with the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), was held at Zamzama Park on Friday evening.

Consul General of Japan Shoichi Kano was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which was inaugurated by DHA Administrator Brig Maqsood Hussain.

Brig Maqsood described Bonsai as a fascinating horticultural art of growing tress in a small container to evoke nature and miniature.

He said Bonsai art was a creative and aesthetically vibrating passion that provided immense delight and recreation to people.

He commended the efforts being made by the Pakistan Bonsai Society for promoting the fantastic Japanese art. He said the Bonsai Centre, established at the Zamzama Park, had emerged as nucleus for disseminating the information on Bonsai in the country.—PPI
