SUKKUR, May 29: Five people, two of them women, were killed in the Chandan Umrani village in the Miranpur Buriro police area near Gharhi Khairo on Sunday night. Accused Ali Dost Buledi, who was accompanied by three accomplices, first shot dead his wife Nusrat, 22, and her aunt Mussarat, 30, when they were asleep.

Afterwards, the accused raided the house of his uncle Yousuf Buledi and opened fire, killing Mohammad Yousuf, his son, Kashmir, and nephew Abdul Rahim.

The accused threw the bodies in the Saifullah Shakh waterway and left the village.

The reason behind the killings is said to be karo-kari.

Police recovered the bodies from the waterway and handed them over to relatives.

All the five dead were buried amid tight security.
