PESHAWAR, May 23: Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil nazim Gul Rauf Khattak has stressed the need for improving healthcare facilities for children. Speaking at a medical camp organised by the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) on Tuesday for school children of government primary schools of the Karak district, the nazim said that children were assets of any nation. “It is our social, moral and religious responsibility to give proper attention to children.”

About 1,380 children were provided free medical check-up and medicines. The medical camp was attended by six doctors of NCHD.

The children were screened out in all the government primary schools of the district for eye, ear, skin and dental problems under the School Health Programme of the NCHD.

District Officer (Education) Munawar Khan said that teachers of all the government primary schools were of great help in the screening process of the children. He said that without the support of teachers and parents it was not possible to arrange the medical camp.

The district program manager of volunteerism, Mohammad Ishaq, said that School Health Programme would yield positive results in a few months.
