KARACHI: PPP MPA defects

Published March 28, 2006

KARACHI, March 27: The PPP diehard MPA, Ms Nuzhat Pathan, has announced quitting the party and joining the government. She made the announcement after meeting Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim at the CM’s House here on Monday.

Talking to journalists, she said she suffered from cancer and needed financial help. However, the PPP did not take pain even to inquire about her health. She said she loved Benazir Bhutto but she did not make even a single telephone call.

“I wrote a letter to Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and he visited me at my residence to inquire about my health. It was after his visit that my PPP colleagues started asking me why he had visited me.”

She also claimed that the PPP was today being run actually by Atta Mohammad Marri’s widow and daughter.

On the occasion, Dr Arbab said that there was no respect for workers in the PPP. “Today Nuzhat Pathan has joined the Sindh government and in the coming days, more opposition MPAs would follow suit.”—APP
