Mohammad Ali passes away

LAHORE, March 19: Mohammad Ali, one of the most successful actors of Pakistan film industry, died here on Sunday of heart attack. He was 71. Mr Ali was suffering from multi-organ problems for a few years. He was on dialysis and also suffered from high blood pressure and a prolonged heart disease.

On Sunday morning, he suffered a massive heart attack and breathed his last on way to the family doctor. His wife, Zeba, also a former superstar of the silver screen, was with him.

Hailing from a religious family, Mohammad Ali started his career from Radio Hyderabad and ventured into film industry in early 60s.

He quit the industry in early nineties and devoted his life to public welfare, keeping himself busy in constructing hospitals for children suffering from blood diseases.

His funeral would be held on Tuesday after the Zuhr prayers.

President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have condoled his death.
