KARACHI, March 4: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was gunned down and two women were wounded in Garden police limits on Saturday. Police said unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate firing on Imran Hasan alias Imran Major, 36, near Jilani mosque in Garden and fled.

As a result, Imran and two passing-by women suffered bullet wounds and were taken to hospital where Imran was declared dead on arrival.

The condition of the two women, identified as Shabana and Mehrunnisa, was said to be out of danger. Imran was the sector in-charge of the MQM Unit 33 in Lyari.

KILLED: A woman and a teenage boy were killed in separate incidents at various localities on Saturday.

A man killed his wife, identified as Surrayya, 25, on suspicion of infidelity in Gul Goth in Sohrab Goth police limits.

Police said Imdad Ali suspected his wife of having extra-marital relations with someone. He had a hot argument with his wife during which he got provoked and hit her head with a hard object.

Surrayya, the mother of an infant, suffered serious head injury and died afterwards.

In another incident, four men strangulated a boy to death at an apartment in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Saturday morning.

Police said Sajjad, 14, hailing from Mithi, worked as servant at the apartment of a policewoman, Rubina Shaheen.

Sajjad was strangled allegedly by four men at the apartment. They also tried to break the door of the room of Rubina, who then made a call on Madadgar 15.

The police immediately reached the spot and arrested three of the suspected killers identified as Daud, Habib, and Anees. Their fourth accomplice managed to flee.

Rubina told the police that a dispute was lingering over the ownership of the apartment and a case was in the court. The opponent party had also harassed Rubina in the past.

They had used Sajjad for leaking information about Rubina’s routine schedule. When Rubina came to know, she admonished Sajjad, who discontinued leaking of information on which the suspects beat Sajjad on Thursday. A report was lodged at the police station concerned in this regard.

The suspects got alert and attacked the apartment early Saturday morning. However, they were arrested on the intervention of the police. A murder case had been registered against the suspects, the police said.

BODY FOUND: The body of a man was found abandoned in a car in North Karachi on Saturday.

Police said the body was found in Sector 14-A of North Karachi in the limits of Shahrah-i-Noor Jahan police station.

The man, identified as Fazal Mehmood, 42, was the employee of a construction firm. His body was shifted to hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his son. The police could not find a clue to the killers.
