PESHAWAR, Feb 1: The government has decided to appoint a former female judge of the Sindh High Court, Justice Majida Rizvi as the permanent chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW).

President Pervaiz Musharraf has already approved of her appointment and a notification may be issued any time, it is learnt.

Post of the chairperson fell vacant last year with the resignation of Dr Shaheen Sardar Ali, who took charge as the first chairperson of the commission on Aug 12, 2000.
