KARACHI, Jan 5: Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain has said that the book Shaoor Ka Safar by one of the founder leaders of the MQM, Saleem Shahzad, is a good attempt to provide excellent information to its readers about the birth and step-by-step growth of the party.

He said this in his telephonic address from London heard at the launching ceremony of the book held at the Arts Council here on Thursday.

He said that the author had tried to cover the history of MQM but because of different mental capacities, it was almost impossible for anyone to have each and every incident of his life in his memory.

Mr Hussain said the writer had written down the events about the party’s history as he remembered which was not sufficient. He called upon other founder leaders and workers to write down whatever they remembered on the subject.

He said that books always provided a variety of knowledge to its readers enabling them to reach a correct conclusion.

He urged people to seek worldly and religious education for progress and development of Pakistani society.

Earlier, the author, Saleem Shahzad, told the gathering telephonically from London that he had written the selected important events about the creation and growth of the MQM, covering the period June 11, 1978-June 19, 1992. He said it was the responsibility of every founder member of the party to write his own experiences on the subject. He thanked Altaf Hussain, and certain other people, for assisting him in writing down the book. He said he was also working on the post-1992 events.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui said the people of Pakistan should adopt the culture of book-writing.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal, Naib Nazim, Nasreen Jaleel, Minister for Planning Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, Minister for Health Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani, Principal of the Sindh Madressatul Islam Mohammad Ali Shaikh, senior journalists and legislators.—APP/PPI
