Saeed spins KRL to victory

KARACHI, Dec 31: Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal captured a career-best seven for 116 to bowl Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) to their first win in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I match against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) by 101 runs on Saturday.

Chasing 350 for victory in 93 overs at NBP Sports Ground, SNGPL were all out for 248 with 28-year-old Faisalabad-born Saeed Ajmal finishing with a match haul of 11 for 141.

SNGPL captain Misbahul Haq made a defiant 72 with five fours and two sixes and Saleem Mughal a fighting 79 with four boundaries and three sixes.

After Imran Khalid went for 22, Misbah with Saleem Mughal put on 86 for the fourth wicket. But after their departure, the remaining batsmen succumbed to the guiles of Saeed Ajmal.
