ISLAMABAD, Dec 17: President General Pervez Musharraf on Saturday invited the Pakistan and England cricket teams over for tea and praised their act of raising funds for the earthquake victims.

He told the players that their gesture was appreciable and would help alleviate the sufferings of the people hit by the Oct 8 quake that killed over 80,000.

The touring English cricketers donated 100,000 pounds and raised another $50,000 by playing golf at Lahore. The Pakistan team had announced 10 per cent of their match fee from each of the three Tests they played against the visitors.

Also, they would be contributing towards building of 100 homes in the affected areas.

Musharraf, who is the Patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) praised Inzamamul Haq’s captaincy in the series and said that he felt sorry for him on missing a century in the Lahore Test.

Inzamam fell for 97 in that match which Pakistan won by an innings and 100 runs to clinch the three-match series 2-0 after the second match at Faisalabad ended in a draw.

With the home side now 2-1 up in the five-game one-day competition, Musharraf, reportedly told the England players that they could still bounce back and win the series.
