KARACHI, Dec 11: Four-year-old chestnut Ghazan Prince created quite a stir when he returned with flying colours to land the 10 furlongs Quaid-i-Azam Trial Cup in the Winter Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Owned by Mr Irfan Mehdi he was rode home by jockey Saif Muhammad outpacing the fancied Fantastic Face by three lengths. Trainer Karim Bachoo also had a hand in the triumph.

Four-year-old bay colt, Al Faris, who had beaten Ghazan Prince by six lengths to lift the Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagaro’s Double Birthday Cup recently, settled for the third place.

The Colts and Fillies Trial Cup ended in a blaze of glory for the three-year-old filly, Victory Road, while Lahore’s two-year-old colt, Sher-e-Gujrat, proved its mettle by lifting the Sapphire Stakes Cup.

Jockey Abdul Aziz performed a fine double. After piloting Arab Hi Arab to victory, he rode Leopard home to stand over and above his contemporaries.

Owner Haji Khuda Bux Rajar was jubilant over the success of his two horses, Silent Angel in the third and Leopard in the ninth. Both were trained by Mushtaq Ali Khan.

Royal Lancer, Sweet Mover, Sharp Cat, and Yes Naeem also ended the day on triumphant note.

The next race meeting will be held on Dec 18.

Four hundred seats?

Four hundred seats?

The mix of divisive cultural politics and growth-oriented economics that feeds Hindu middle-class ambition and provides targeted welfare are key ingredients in the BJP’s political trajectory.
