Haseeb, Akhtar send Islamabad reeling

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6: Rawalpindi seamers Haseeb Amjad and Akhtar Ayub ran through Islamabad batting to restrict them to 140 on the first day of the PCB Under-19 Inter-region Championship final at the Diamond Ground.

Haseeb, bowling a good line and length, picked up 5-62 after Rawalpindi won the toss and chose to field in the four-day final. Akhtar Ayub also showed fine form to snap up 3-45.

Against the pace, only Imran Fazil stood up in scoring 49 runs. He hit six boundaries.

In reply, Rawalpindi had scored 117-2 when play ended for the day and looked set to take a first innings lead. Omer Amin struck a fine 47 with nine fours while Usman Ashraf was 40 not out at the close.

Javed Nadir and Mohammad Ehsan picked up a wicket each.
